According to Iran’s state television, President Ibrahim Raisi’s helicopter has crashed near the border with Azerbaijan. However, the Iranian President has not been identified yet.

  1. Actually, Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi was going to inaugurate a dam with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on Sunday (May 19). This is the third dam that both the countries have jointly built on the Aras River.
  2. This accident happened about 600 kilometers north-west of Iran’s capital Tehran, near the border of Azerbaijan. Apart from President Raisi’s helicopter, there were two more helicopters, which did not suffer any damage.
  3. According to Iranian media, among those who were traveling in the helicopter with President Raisi, the names of Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Al-Hashem, Juma and Jamaat of Tabriz and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have been revealed.
  4. As soon as information about the accident is received, efforts are being made to send a team of army and rescue workers to the spot. However, the rescue team could not reach due to bad weather. Apart from this, the army is taking the help of drones to locate President Raisi.
  5. According to Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmed Vahidi, the presidential helicopter may have had to make a hard landing due to bad weather and fog. He said that due to difficult weather conditions, search and rescue teams may take time to reach the accident site.
  6. The spokesperson of the Iranian government issued a statement saying that we are facing difficult and difficult circumstances. No news has been received yet about the President’s helicopter. He has appealed to the people to maintain peace and pray.
  7. Iranian media says that if something happens to the President in this accident, he will be replaced by Vice President Mohammad Mokhbar. After this, new elections will have to be held within the next 50 days.
